I Love My Nook Sewn Cover for Halloween

A cover for my Nook
the other day I decided to make a cover for my Nook and I just purchased this adorable
Halloween fabric at Joann's and thought how cute.....now my husband said get making the Christmas, LOL!
I used felt, my sewing machine and batting.

Here it is inside the cover it fit perfect.

Here is the inside that plaid fabric was such a cute perfect Halloween print
The other night we made brownies, every now and then I break down and make some sweets for the children.
Dusty had been crying to play the game like Cooper but he just was to small and was having trouble so I told him we could make brownies, he did everything from the eggs to the water and the stirring. Next thing I looked he was eating the batter, I ran to get the camera and within seconds he was just about covered in brownies. Oh well he didn't care he forgot all about the game.

He said "these brownies yummy" he added nuts, and chocolate chips. We were so glad we could finally add nuts to the brownies now that Amanda is not home, she hates nuts in things so the boys were all doing the happy dance over getting to add nuts in the brownies, after they were done cooking they had ice cream on top.....and no I didn't have any!!!

Hope everyone is having a super week~ although it has just began. I have been so busy getting the boys ready for school, open house, supplies, etc. whew!! The two littlest boys are so wanting to go now, and to think poor Coop missed the deadline by 20 days, he was born on Sept. 20 and the deadline for K is August 31. He is so ready and wanting to go to school.  Oh well he will just have to enjoy another year with me and Dusty. Well I am off to bed...have a great week. Dawn

Say It With Letters Mermaid

Say It With Letters mermaid that is just perfect for my bedroom. I decorated her with hand spun hand dyed merino yarn, by Tamara Lovelace and wool that I hand dyed the green circles.  The felt ball was cut in half. Hand painted and decorated with a tiny mirror and shells that I have had since forever.......along with the starfish. Used Liquitex paints.

The hand dyed wool felt was dyed in water with Ranger Adirondack Bottle Green ink.
The purple was bought like that.

I think the mermaid came out so pretty.

Close up of the mermaid and the mirror.

You can purchase one of these of your very own at Say It With Letters Etsy store. Deb has a wonderful selection of cut-outs perfect for all your artsy needs.
Also check the blog out for loads of inspiration.

Say It With Letters Margarita Glass "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off"

Say It With Letters Martini Glass with a Margarita Style
I just love it! I made it for my outdoor kitchen
(which where it is, is protected)
Bruce Jr. painted the tiki bar last week with a Magaritaville flair...which made this just fit right in!
The fabric was machine embroidered on my ancient embroidery machine, I bought it brand new in 1995 and paid $5,000 and yes it still works!!!! Gotta love it! A Janome Memory Craft 9000, I have asked for a new one that is computer friendly and Bruce just won't budge!

The theme came from the famous song by Joe Nichols Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off, which everyone who knows me
I am not a country music fan, I know.....but my children are so I am so exposed to it, and my husband laughs at me when I sing the songs.

The wooden cutout is perfect for all your poison drinks...lol!
The ribbon is unknown but the flowers came from WalMart. I used fabri-tac Adhesive
The boa came from Michaels.

The lime is made from wool felt which I hand sewed the lime wedges on, I think it was such a great added touch.

Hello again!! I hope you have been having a wonderful summer. I taught this week at my house and had such a great time, but managed to get this cute little glass done......now I think I really need one. I have been trying to get more projects done now since my garden season is coming to an end. I have so enjoyed this summer, I really hate to see it end, but on the other hand I do like the regular routine of the fall. Well better go...have a wonderful week! Dawn Gallop

Hello and Happy Saturday,
Last week I received this wonderful sweet box from Deb at Damboise Designs Say it With Letters Etsy Shop  NEST. Thanks Deb!! It is one of the biggest sellers for her wonderful Etsy store....oh my! My wish list is long so many wonderful creations to decorate with. Super cute and super fun!!! You can start from a babies name to many Holiday ideas, and gifts for that special someone. Check it out HERE!!! Also she has a BLOG filled with wonderful ideas and the cutest little children. This is my second DT piece. I will have many more as soon as I can get my list down to reality....lol!!!
I began with painting the sides with Golden paints Titan Buff, then using the 7 Gypsies line Conservatory pp I glued down the traced letters with the pp. Then added a fine line of the Ranger Glossy Accents using the German Glass Glitter which Deb sells and the glitter is an amazing product, it is real glass and it actually tarnishes over time and is so beautiful. A must!! Sprinkled the glitter on. Oh yeah before I did that I used a small amount of Tim Holtz Antique Linen by Ranger to ink the letters slightly. The pp itself was just perfect but you know me gotta add...lol!! So I thought it needed the felt flower, I designed the petals myself. Then added a half of a felt ball hand sewing the tiny glass beads on. The buttons are vintage buttons from an old sewing factory here in NC. I have an old huge pickle jar I have had since 1995 and have used almost half of them over the years on projects. The twine is Bakers twine which Deb sells too. The twigs are Rosemary twigs from my garden after I took off the greenery after it dried.
The bird is a Christmas bird from the 50's that had a clip on it I took it off and glued in the S.....perfect fit. The flower vine is Prima, I coated with Tattered Angels Glam. Then back over with the Golden Titan Buff. I hope you like it. I do have more pics of the pizza oven so stay tuned will show asap. Have a WONDERFUL Happy weekend, Cyber Hugs, Dawn Gallop :o)

Hello,                                                                                                                                                                                 Everything went well today I am improving everyday with my sciatic nerve.  The boys are still sick with this yucky cough, and Cooper keeps letting me know "I too sick" (to do anything). I decided last night I was going to drag out the encaustics stuff and get to work, I have only dabbled in it a few times in the past...mostly because of Suze Weinberg we also worked on it at Inspired this past year.  Well I had been just about begging hubby to go to Art of the Carolinas well that was out of the question. Beverly called me on Sunday of last week and we were talking back and forth about it and I said yeah I wanna go BAD!!! She said lets...well I got off the phone and asked hubby and he said YES!!! So I bought my class right away and all week me and Bevy were just EXCITED!!!
Friday came and I was excited but felt like I was on a bad roller coaster ride...so much to do to leave my crew even if only for a few hours.....imagine what I went thru to go to Utah last fall.???. LOL!! Me and Bevy were loaded up and on our way to Raleigh NC. I took Bevy country roads until Hwy 64..... it is shorter!!! LOL! Bevy didn't think so! We just had a blast California Kitchen (love that place) Bevy's treat!! Thanks Beverly I could never Thank You enough. NEVER!!!  Archivers, Ornamentea, Barnes and Nobles, and Jo-Ann's Crafts. We were just having a ball finally we got to the Art of the Carolinas and oh my it was Art Utopia....and my class was starting oh no not enough time to shop. Encautic Collage he we are with our wonderful fun teacher Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch she has a book out which btw she signed my copy. Happy Waxing!! Love it!! We made three little collages see above compliments of R&F. They provided the awesome boards and paints for the class. I could have just painted all day. Well eager to make something at home...I dug out what little bit of encaustics that I do have. I set out to waxing......as always I work with what is out and about in close reach (when I haven't cleaned up) so i made the board above with Imaginisce and Dusty. The ATC (compliments of Bevy) thanks dear!!! :o) felt, German glass glitter, 7 Gypsies pp. Fun fun!!! Now that I have made this post I am gonna make another something now...well finish up another project hope to post tomorrow...can't wait to show ya!!! EXCITING!
