January 17, 2026 The Marines Graduation Ceremony

Hello and huge Marine welcome. The day all the recruits have been waiting on. They all became Marines after the Crucible. The graduation ceremony was held on the Parade deck. Very special day for the Maines and the families. I was so happy and proud so very proud. We were both bubbling with joy for our Marine. Cooper. Congratulations Cooper. We are so proud of you. We love you Boopie.

It has been a grand day. Wanted to share the pictures with you. I’m so very tired. I think Cooper has had an overload of a day. When he got in the car he said Crystal I think you’re going to fast. Crystal replied I ain’t about getting a ticket on post. Much love to everyone. I’m signing off here I don’t even think I will be reading my book tonight. We have been in bed extra early these days out here in the west coast.
Today is the twins birthday but we will celebrating with them next weekend. Happy Birthday Brooks and Baker age 2 today. It just seems like yesterday I was holding them in my arms the day they were born. Now they have their sweet little sister to share their birthday with. So much love and support. The greatest parents. I love them so much.

Love,

January 16, 2026 Family Day

Good Day! When you read this we will be heading to the graduation. Seating starts at 8:30 am Pacific time. It was pure joy and love seeing him after three months. We all are so very proud of him. So proud of everyone there today. These young men and women making a difference in their lives and our country. Thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Once family day had begun and their liberty started for a few hours to hang with mom, dad, Billy, Crystal, Skylar and Kenso. Cooper requested a meal from this food truck. It was a one hour and 14 minutes to get to order the food then another 50 minutes to get the food in his hands. He enjoyed his burrito barria.

There was a lady selling gluten free keto chocolate cupcakes. Yep I bought one. It was delicious.

Waiting….. with pure excitement!

Back at the rental house Crystal and Billy got for all of us to stay at. If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have a place to even stay. I had suggested a hostel. I am so thankful they came. It’s been so nice being together. I am so happy and proud but seriously I’m very tired. We had Wal-Mart delivery yesterday. Tonight we had Jimmy John’s which was way too expensive. Billy had requested that. Bruce and I hadn’t probably ate there in five years or more. The last time was in Suffolk Virginia. Skylar and Bruce split a sub. See you guys tomorrow. Sending love and positive vibes.

Best regards,

San Diego January 15, 2026 Verbatim Books

Hello and welcome glad you stopped by. Imagine your heart racing and a feeling of overwhelming joy. Who doesn’t love a book store? I know I do love to go to a bookstore and I imagine you as well. Just think you’ve crossed the threshold and there is no holding you back. You don’t know where to start (liking too many genres), all the artwork, the antiques, the faces, the pictures, totes, cats, postcards and the vintage robots.  My head was spinning I was looking in all directions and I knew I had just arrived at the most amazing bookstore ever. There were zines, yes I am a huge fan of. As my head continued to spin out of control with all the what ifs and the wants and desires of all these printed books and magazines. It’s endless and did I mention ENDLESS? You can be in there for multiple hours only seeing a single portion of the magnificent building.
Before you even have crossed the threshold the building has a way of drawing you in as if a spell is on you. The building itself holds some amazing spirits. The outside of the building is so incredibly interesting and inviting your eyes are mesmerized with the spectacular artistic beauty you are now transformed back to your memories of reading these books and poems. Skylar my granddaughter and me.

The toy collection…..
When I was a child I was in love with Errol Flynn I used to ask my mom to find his movies during a time when we didn’t have VHS, or DVD or anything other than black and white tv with a dial that you turned for a channel.

Yes Doctor Zhivago was one of my favorite movies during my childhood. I would watch it all the time.
Crystal (my daughter) and Kenso. When Crystal was little she had a robot just like the ones they had on the shelf in the store. She would carry the robot everywhere. If we wanted her to do something she wouldn’t put the robot down. So we would have to take it from her and then she would yells “give me back my nanny rowbot” yes I spelled it rowbot.

I’m going to be telling you more as the trip continues. Today we got up early, Bruce cooked breakfast. Kenso was playing and eating his papa’s delicious breakfast. Eggs and turkey bacon. Kenso didn’t eat the bacon. He’s only 9 1/2 months old. Then we all got ready and drove over to the base where we got Cooper a gift that all the parents had bought they had ordered there’s. Remember we have a tiny budget in fact Cody gave us money to be able to come. It’s all been a true blessing how all our children have worked so hard to make this dream of Coopers success possible. Our dream to see him graduate and be the Marine he has wished to be. Dreams do come true!! Thank you so much for making this happen!!! Plus you guys get to see some really cool stuff.

Then we went to eat at a restaurant called The Fish Market where Billy paid for the food. I got the oysters Rockefeller. So delicious I had never had them only seen them on movies. I love oysters grew up eating them. Being close to the Atlantic Ocean growing up. Then we headed over to the Kissing Statue more on that later. Saw the USS Midway.

Then to Verbatim Books and you know the rest. Well maybe not all of it. So while I was in awe of the bookstore, Bruce and Billy were shopping for me. Where Billy bought me a beautiful journal and a box of stellar oracle cards. What an amazing son in law, right!!! Thank you so much Billy. I am so thankful. Just look at the generosity that my family has done for us. I’m like someone pinch me!!! Now I am signing off here as I have some books to read. Later gator much love and good vibes to everyone.

Sending hugs and positive energy your way,

Dawn Gallop
