Sketch by Becky Fleck

Hi everyone,

Yeah I know another long time Again! This time of year as I said before is soooo busy, but really this time was because the boys were so sick all last week I couldn't catch a break for nothing. Then on friday I got a call from the school at 1pm from the high school, the first thing out of the principals mouth Hello Amanda has been in an accident....I thought car at first then I knew the time...but......then she said but she is okay, the paramedics are with her now. I was thinking is she okay so why are the paramedics with her???? They said they were taking her to the hospital......okay panic time...why??? They were in weight lifting class and a 100# weight fell on her leg four foot from the leg press bar. She had a boots and they didn't remove the boot until the paramedics got there less than two minutes from the high school. I had no baby sitter, and my husband out of town. My neighbor didn't have her cell phone on...why I asked her???? She said IDK! So I went to get Cody from school and then went to the hospital...the boys were just too sick with that awful virus to carry them any where else...to make them sicker or infect someone else. I got to the hospital and the officer from the school had stayed with her until I arrived. Thanks Officer!!! Her fibula on her right ankle had broke off, they casted her until we could see the orthopedic doc on Monday...well it is casted now until the swelling goes down but there is alot up in the air at the moment for this. She is due to leave for the Navy in July...but now she may still have to have a pin put in and not good! We have no health insurance and the school said they only have $2,500 for this kinda accident. Since Amanda had no backup plan since she sworn into the Navy last Sept. sooooooo??? Now you know why I have been absent. I have several projects done and ready to post...but as far as last week I still haven't even unloaded the pics.
On a much happy note I knew my lo for SOUS was due and I soooo needed to create.....after dinner on Monday I snuck to the studio and made this cute little lo...I know so different for me but I needed something easy and cheery!!! I made it within minutes and really liked it. I have always loved My Little ShoeBox such cute adorable papers. The house, flowers, and the clouds are from MLS. The cardboard
for the trunk of the tree my friend and student Nancy gave me, thanks Nancy!! The background paper is Cosmo Cricket. See above for other details. The cartridge is Sweet Treats by Cricut. There is candy this week over at SOUS.....so head over to SOUS to find out more. The candy is giving by:
Thanks Floren!!!
Here is the candy so go to SOUS and check it out!!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I will be at altered book class all weekend it will be so nice to be with friends and relax. Cyber Hugs, Dawn Gallop

Hello again,

Yesterday was a busy day, hubby and I went to Raleigh NC we stopped into see Alexis for a few and Cooper and Dusty wanted to stay the rest of the day with her, so we went onto Raleigh.  I spent a day with Patti Digh and the girls at Ornamentea. We had a Reconnection Mail Art Patti Digh and Cynthia Deis. Fun fun fun day!!! More on this later.....but wanted to tell ya why I was late getting this post up..Dusty has another cold and a fever today so fussy is order for me...he is napping now. I really hate when children are sick it just breaks my heart. Last night we stopped to get our tree at a lot in Raleigh which was a nice one! We are gonna decorate today...Amanda is dragging out all the holiday goodies now.  Let me know how your holiday is going so far.....any gifts, any cooking, decorations up????
The Chinese take-out box is an actual box, I took it apart and glued the box to a sheet of paper I printed from the Cricut Imagine and then put the box back together. The medallion of the side is a two different sized printed ones and the cute image is just another adorable one on Kate's Kitchen.....oh my...even hubby is IMPRESSED!!! Rock on Cricut!!! We LOVE ours here!! Thanks! :o) What will you Imagine??? Is so true!! Just so much oh my!
Well the recipe for the day....an easy one...and I must say everyone I have given this one too in my life has asked for the recipe and even makes it and love it!! I have been making this one since I was 21 we had three kids then and lived in Norfolk VA, my neighbor brought us some over and that was it and she said just buy a jar of Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme and the recipe is on the back just use peanut butter instead of chocolate. Well how easy is that??? Now even my girls make it and so on.....It will a fave. of yours too.
Peanut Butter Fantasy Fudge
3 cups of sugar
3/4 cup of butter/margarine (1 1/2 sticks)
2/3 cup of evaporated milk (5oz)
1 1/2 cup of peanut butter I use chunky but creamy is fine too
1 jar of 7 oz Jet puffed marshmallow creme
1 tsp. vanilla
Spray a 13x9 pan with Pam, Bring sugar, butter, and milk to full rolling boil in large saucepan on medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Boil until candy thermometer reaches 234 degrees . Softball stage. Remove from heat and stir in marshmallow creme and vanilla and peanut butter. Pour into prepared pan. Cut while still warm and place on serving dish. Allow to cool and place into gift giving container such as the Chinese take-out box or other container. {You can substitute 1 1/2 package of Baker's Semi-sweet chocolate, chopped for the peanut butter. Also add nuts of choice in place of the crunchy peanut butter}
Hope you like this one I know we all sure do and Kraft makes it easy!! Have a wonderful weekend. Cyber Hugs, Dawn Gallop :o)

GROW Altered Wall Hanging

Hello all, I hope this Monday has been a beautiful day for you and yours. I have been wanting to post this for about two weeks now. It is an altered wall hanging using a canvas turned around backwards like a shadow box. I painted the inside and the frame using acrylic paints. Then I added Webster's pp Nature's StoryBook:Grow Dreams. Using Tattered Angels glimmer mist sprayed on pp using the dragonfly screen and the tree screen. The grow letters are Rusty Pickle...I tore the cardboard off and used Tim Holtz crackle paints and applied a thin coat to them, and some ink. The lace around the frame is Prima Elegant Lace. The bumble bee, the dragonfly and two flowers on the alphas are SpellBinder's using the Wizard die cutting system, the dragonfly has a coat of Alcohol inks, the bumble bee is cut from Cosmo Cricket pp and inked. The blue flower is cut from handmade paper that me and the boys made one day..what a blast and they still will bring it up whenever I use it in a project. The pot is made using a crackle paint chip from the hardware store, using the SpellBinder's diecut.

The flowers on the outside of the frame are made using the SpellBinder's Sunflower die cut I cut the flower out then folded it into 1/8ths using the Tim Holtz tiny attacher (love this) stapled it on one side then attached to the homemade floral wire (I used to teach flower arranging for our local community college many many years ago) Yes I still have all my stuff....I know I get fussed at, about it all the time. Sprayed with Tattered Angels glimmer mist and wallah.....a flower vine. The leaves are SpellBinder's too. TFL!!! Thanks and Have a WONDERFUL afternoon. Dawn

Have a Fintastic Day

Hi, here is a little something I worked on last night, I have lots to show you soon. I am just waiting on reveals. So sorry it has taken awhile, but I do have projects coming. This is a little card I made using the SpellBinder's Circle Nestabilities dies. The fish and the seahorse are also SpellBinder's. The inside say Have a Fintastic Day! I sewed up the inside and outside using
yellow thread and red in the bobbin, which had a great effect on the colors of the card. The pp are Cosmo Cricket...love this line!! TFL!! Have a WONDERFUL DAY!!! Oh btw I almost forgot even after Debbie told me last night.....she has posted the little house she had donated at the Rusty Pickle retreat, please stop by and view HERE. Thanks Deb!! MY GIFT

Description: I COMPLETED THIS LO FOR THE COSMO CRICKET CHALLENGE, USING 75% COSMO CRICKET..I USED THE BE GOOD COLLECTION. AND FOR THE AUGUST JOURNALING W/ A TWIST ADD A BUTTON/BUTTONS.
I USED SEVERAL TECHNIQUES..ANTIQUING, DISTRESSING, WALNUT INK, STAMPING, CRACKLE PAINT. I PUT SEVERAL PICTURES CLOSE UPS IN THE GALLERY.
THE JOURNALING READS:When I was a child Christmas time was the most wonderful time of the year. I was so excited and loved putting up decorations and making all kind of goodies. Most of these traditions have carried thru into adult hood. When I first got married I soon realized I was not going to be able to have the “SAME” kind of Christmas that I was accustomed to…there were no decorations, no tree at first your daddy did bring one home one Saturday. It was quickly looking like there was going to be no Holiday that I being an only child was used to. I was 17 and expecting my first child who would be born in January, your daddy was 19 and worked every day and we still could barely get by trying to get ready for a baby and pay rent, etc. there was no money for Christmas items or gifts..etc.

This went on for many years to come although your daddy would always make sure you guys had toys and a tree. We would shop to get just the right toys, take you to see Santa and the trains. Your grandma Nancy would come over and out do us (to speak) and it would hurt our feelings, because we could only do a few things and of course all their toys were much better because it would be the things that were bigger and more costly. Time would change and your grandmother

Thank you children for the gift, because YOU are the GIFT!!!! Love always, Momma
