Another Snow Storm 🌨️ Blizzard Warnings

Hello and welcome this was Fridays delivery of SNOW! ❄️ However they are currently calling for a Blizzard Warning. Which in the warning it states 2-3 Feet and high winds with gusts up to 45 miles per hour. The trees are weighted down now as it is. Today is sunny this Saturday afternoon. Bruce was cutting wood to prepare us for the boiler since he would be unable to do so if the blizzard comes. We only cut wood of downed trees and trees that are dead. We haven’t bought wood loads in over two years. There just is no money for buying the loads. The first two years we were here we did buy large loads of wood, so all Bruce had to do was cut the wood into small pieces for the boiler or the Pioneer Princess stove. We have bought the large contractor type bags full of wood for $40 bucks but now they aren’t available like they used to be. The company here stopped selling them. It was very convenient as they were already split to fit in your fireplace or hearth. Sometimes the local hardware store will have them and we will get Colby to pick one up for us but the low income has kept us from purchasing them as much as we would like to. So today he has spent most of the day cutting wood and splitting it to prepare for the blizzard coming our way. 
Just look at those beautiful colors of nature, it sure makes me happy and feel so proud to see it. 

The purples and the oranges just make you feel the beautiful light. This would make a wonderful painting. 

The trees are still weighted down and to add more snow is scary. 🫣 

Of course I always like to get close up shots of plants and those icicles. 

This is in the back yard I just love how the sun shines on the trees.

Bruce had cleared the porch and you can see it was piled up. 

The John Deere Gator was not happy with all the snow. That’s our plow. We got this John Deere in 2015 and it was the best thing we had done to get around the farm in. I am thankful for it!!! Can’t say it enough. 

Peace Out. Bruce and I. We are still boiling sap for the maple syrup. Today we collected 8 five gallon buckets full. I rode in the gator but that was the most we have collected in all the times. We have got 6 1/2 five gallon buckets full before. Which is the usual. I worked on my mushroom project most of the day. Here and there. Taking care of my plants. We are having chili from bags we froze for supper. Take care and have a great day and weekend.

Finding Beauty in the Winter Garden

The Winter garden teaches us to listen, to rest, and a time to plan. The roots are getting ready for the upcoming season. The trees are starting to make an appearance when spring awakens and tells the trees to begin blooming. 

Hello and good day,  today I am showing you the beauty that can be found in the winter garden. When ever  I say the word winter garden I automatically think of the book I read in 2025. Winter Garden by Kristen Hannah Winter Garden . 

 

A beautiful story a must read. It will touch all the senses. All the feelings. Here is one of the gourds left in the garden. They will dry up and be ready to paint by the time it’s time for the spring cleanup. You would first scrub them in a little bit of bleach water using a rough sponge or a soft wire brush. Something with texture to remove the peeling skins of the gourds. 

That’s a good view of the deep snow.

Garebear had bought me this one Mother’s Day. I really enjoy it. It’s garden art. 

Welcome, Dusty put this together for me last year and I paid him a little bit of money. It is great for the vines to grow on. It’s also a great garden entrance. 

This was one of best years of the gourds since NC. One year we had so many that I made numerous fall scenes and gave so many away. It was when Dusty was small. 

This is Abigail our oldest granddaughter with Dusty. I had seen this in the Timehop one day and saved it. That was the year we had so many gourds of all shapes and sizes. Even the caveman club gourd. The kids used to run through them. It was magical. 

It says exactly what I needed to share. 

The flag I got reminds me of Sophia, Rosie and Kevin. Just makes me happy to see it. 

The strawflower with snow. 

The strawflower these are so beautiful in the summer. They will be casting all their seeds about for springtime. 

You know I can’t stop sharing these pictures of the beautiful birds. I always say when I see a cardinal it’s my dad Richard. Last week I had seven cardinals at the feeders at once. Six males and one female. It was the most I had ever seen at once. I watch them and off in a distance you can see them. They will wait for the bluejays to leave. Sometimes! 

Yes it does! The seed catalogs the dreaming of new ideas and plans for the future. They always say to plant a garden is to believe in the future. I am thinking of all the possibilities. 

The other night we made nachos they were so delicious. Easy meal and everyone always likes it. 

It was the usual day. Tomorrow will make Day 17 of the 100 Days. I feel like I am questioning this adventure I want to make it happen as I have goals involved. I have already learned so much about how I can paint intuitively and not even think about what I am going to make. Today while painting the watercolors I was a purest where usually I add all the mixed media in. Today I stayed with just watercolors. Which watercoloring has always been my favorite painting.  I hope today as you read this you see the beauty in the winter garden or perhaps read the book.

Description: Hello I completed this lo of Dusty in his winter hat taken in Dec. 08. I used bazzill blues and old pp with winter words..unknown. Flock on the steam over cup. Chunky glitter, snowflake sequins, hearts are Jolee's, My is ols stickopotamus snowcap alphas. I used the Ms punch around photo..thanks Betty!!! The hot cocoa cup was cut on the Cricut at 5 1/2 from Christmas cheer cart. I used half pearls from the SU pretties kit. The snowmen in the rt. corner is made from a brass stencil and embossing paste and ultrafine glitter. The word WARM is made from Speaking of Winter form the Cricut cart. The glitter around the pic is the chunky glitter glue from Michael's. TFL.
