Easter 2015

Happy Easter!! Dusty has had so much fun with these Dollar Tree bunny ears. It has been a good Easter. I like all the fun we have prior to the big day. 

Skylar went to the park for an Easter Egg hunt.  Here she is wearing that sweet shirt I made her with my Silhouette Cameo with Vinyl I bought from Vinylvillage.

Daisy with her bunny ears. Dusty had just figured out that Kim had out the ears on Daisy. This pic was a hit on Tumblr, it was reblogged quite a few times. I had a great time taking pics with Kim at her house which she lives right around the corner of our dirt road. It was relaxing!

This was the outfits I made both Skylar and Samantha for their Easter gifts. It is made using the Silhouette Cameo and vinyl I bought from Vinylvillage. I think it turned out cute and I had fun making it.

More hot cross buns! Yummy!! These are now Colten's favorite food I think!!

A large ham for the family. Along with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and homemade rolls.

I also made a pineapple upside down cake because that is Bruce's favorite. I used my Lodge 12" cast iron skillet and it comes out perfect every time. He loves it!

I used duck eggs in the baking today.

Again as every year I make these peanut butter eggs, and the coconut cream eggs. These are favored by family and they expect it, not to mention I sell them and had quite a few orders. They turned out so pretty.

Another Career Day this one at the Middle School

Hello well today was another career day for this artist. I was thrilled that I was invited again this year. I greatly enjoy talking with the young people and listening to their ideas and goals. The teachers also will tell me about their creative sides and finding the time to create. Which all us makers know exactly about that!! We all must find time to create and express ourselves. I took a lot of the art work and of course the soaps. The children I talked with asked me many questions. It was just a great day!! It was kinda funny for me I had the time mixed up (which is typical of me) I showed up at 8:30 to set up by 9 and it didn't start till 12. So I went back home and continued on some of my regular daily duties. 

When we got to the school this sign was on the gym doors, which of course I loved seeing the art work!

This sign was on the front doors of the school house. Just wonderful! The signs show us how much you appreciate us coming and just plain say "Welcome" well done! Thank you!

There were lots of businesses at career day. The turn out was amazing! I was impressed.

Chick-Fil-A Suffolk Virginia provided us for a wonderful lunch with a yummy cookie, waffle chips, one of their amazing chicken sandwiches. Which I thought was mighty generous of them. They continue to have so much support for the community and not to mention the food is amazingly yummy!!

One of the young ladies asking me questions about how I work and what is the hardest part of my job. 

Here the students are walking around to each table talking about the careers and deciding which career they are interested in and asking questions from each of the volunteers. 

Each time that I have been to career days the Sheriffs Dept. is always popular!! The students enjoy all the ways to find fingerprints. It is all very interesting, I am even amazed at all the ways the law enforcers have to find evidence. 

They gave these out at the end of the day the leaders of Career Day said they got the idea off of Pinterest. It was a wonderful idea and very thoughtful of them. 

It was full of yummy pepermints. Which these are one of my favorite! 

Thanks again leaders for thinking of us!

I have also been invited to other career days but didn't attend one was for my surgery last year on April 1. When I am asked again I will be sure not to miss one! I have a great time and the children seem to really enjoy it!

I was so sad today I was unable to go to the Farmers Market to sell my soaps and baked goods, because Cooper was a having a little sickness from all the pollen, well more like allergies. So Bruce and Colten went in my place.

I can't wait to get back to the market, I really enjoy talking with everyone. Have a beautiful weekend! Stay Artful and create everyday!

A Day at the Smithfield Farmers Market in Smithfield Virginia

Hello all this Saturday was the kick off to a new season at the Smithfield Farmers Market in Smithfield Virginia. We were so excited that we were excepted into the market this year. We had our wonderful soaps Leaf Love Soaps. Baked goods, and of course Farm Fresh eggs from our farm It's All About #9 Farms. We had 24 dozen eggs to market this week. 

I had homemade maple glazed cinnamon buns which are amazing. I use organic flour, real butter, homemade organic Tahitian vanilla beans vanilla extract. All the best ingredients. They were quite a big hit.

Look at how beautiful they turned out before frosted. Colten had wished that I didn't sell anything so I could bring home what didn't sell. I told him I would be giving them away and that he really didn't need all those yummies. He has quite the sweet tooth.

I love hearing all the outstanding stories that the shoppers share with you, one that made me happy was telling me about how her mother used to make these same cinnamon rolls when she was a child. Memories really are the BEST!! Thank you everyone for the wonderful stories and keep them coming.

I also had homemade these amazing hot cross buns which I used cardamom. Lucky I had my sweet daughter in law Kim who picked up the spice for me which she was amazed at how expensive the spice was. I had it but apparently I used it up and didn't replace it. Thank you Kim!!

Everything was packaged and ready for market by Friday afternoon. Fresh for the market.

The eggs were ready and packed for the market early Saturday morning. We left the house at 6:30 am.

I had homemade pecan pies with homemade crust. Which they all sold out immediately.

I also had my blueberry cobbler, which if you would also like to make I have shared the recipe before. Go HERE. Which these also went fast. You never know what someone will want. I just made the goodies that are my specialties. This year I am hoping for a big blueberry crop. I will need these for the markets. 

Sinful Treats was beside us. Mmmmm those cupcakes are so beautiful and smell amazing!! Her whole design is beautiful. The coconut lime was calling my name!!! 

Shoppers arrived early despite the freezing temperatures. I am so ready for spring to begin! See everyone has on coats. I was frozen I had on four layers too. A scarf and a hat.

The clouds moved in my mid morning making it seem even colder. Sunshine is always warmer even if the temps are lower. The shoppers still came! Yay! I certainly enjoyed talking with everyone. On our way home it did snow a few flurries.....but that will tell you how cold it was.

There were many many furry friends too.

Wanted to share that my May peas are up despite those extremely low temps of as low as 3 degrees. I have four long rows the wire is there to keep my chickens from scratching at them.

I made this collage frame for the table so that everyone can see how amazing my chickens are!!!
